Axpo Naturstrom close to hitting 100 gigawatt hours

Axpo Vertrieb AG has successfully operated the Axpo Naturstrom brand for nine years. As sales partners of Axpo, cantonal utility companies and final distributors supplied around 14,000 domestic customers and 29 business customers with close to 100 GWh of electricity from renewable sources in the year under review, building on the good result achieved in the previous year. Axpo Naturstrom is available as Blue, Azur and Sky products for domestic customers and as Business for business customers. Depending on the product selected, the end customer buys different proportions of electricity from photovoltaic, biomass, small-scale hydroelectric and run-of-river hydroelectric sources, which do not receive any subsidies from the cost-covering feed-in tariff.

By buying green energy, these customers are also adding to the Axpo Naturstrom Fund – the only fund of its kind in Switzerland to promote technologies for generating electricity from renewable sources and improving energy efficiency. This may include research and development projects, pilot and demonstration plants, or studies. Four more grants were promised in the last financial year, which means that 30 projects are being partly financed by the Axpo Naturstrom Fund.
