Fätschbach power station

High-pressure run-of-river power station in Glarus Land

The Fätschbach plant was built by Axpo AG, formerly NOK, between 1947 and 1949. With an output capacity of 15 MW, it uses a catchment area covering 35 km2 in and around the border between the cantons of Uri and Glarus. The water, which is captured on the Urnerboden mountain and collected in a small compensating basin, is fed along a tunnel to the Linthal central power plant of the Linth-Limmern power stations, where it continuously passes through turbines. The average annual electricity production is 70m kWh. The plant has the characteristic features of a run-of-river power station. The operation and maintenance of the facilities is ensured by Kraftwerke Linth-Limmern AG.
