Low-pressure run-of-river power station on the River Aare

Axpo AG has a 14.88% stake in the Aarau-based Klingnau power station, which went into operation in 1935. The other companies with a share in it are AEW with 35%, Finelectra with 25%, BKW with 10.06%, and Atel with 10.06%. The power station, which delivers an output of 42.9 MW, and produces 222m kWh of electricity every year, is located before the confluence of the Aare and the Rhine. The Klingnau reservoir is a natural conservation area of national importance.
