Albula-Landwasser Kraftwerke AG

High-pressure run-of-river power station in the Albula and Landwasser Valleys

Albula-Landwasser Kraftwerke AG, which is headquartered in Filisur (GR), is a plant co-owned by Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG (75%), Elektrizitätswerk Davos AG (15%), the Canton of Graubünden (5%) and various concession authorities (5%).

The Glaris-Filisur and Bergün-Filisur power station stages were built with the shared machinery center in Filisur between 1961 and 1966. The construction of the Filisur-Tiefencastel power station stage, with the machinery center in Tiefencastel, took place between 1984 and 1988.

Albula-Landwasser Kraftwerke AG

The Glaris-Filisur and Bergün-Filisur stages use the inflow from the Landwasser and Albula Valleys and, therefore, have two works water systems which are separated topographically. One of the systems is located in the Landwasser Valley between Davos and Filisur, with a catchment of 220 km2, while the other system is located in the Albula Valley between Bergün and Filisur, with a catchment of 126 km2. The two works water systems come together in the Cruschetta surge tank above Filisur, where they are fed to the two turbines at the Filisur control center via the pressure tunnel or pressure pipe.

The works water from the Filisur power station and the water from the Albula, with its catchment of 32 km2, which is also collected in Filisur and stored in the Filisur compensating reservoir, are processed at the Tiefencastel power station.

The mean annual production is 389m kWh, with 115m kWh generated in the cold half of the year and 274m kWh generated during the warm half of the year.

The managerial mandate is held by Axpo Hydro Energy.
