Kraftwerk Augst AG
Run-of-river power station on the Rhine
The Augst-based power station, which went into operation in 1912, is a plant co-owned between AEW Energie AG and the cantonal authorities of Basel Land. The power station was upgraded to a modern low-pressure run-of-river power station with STRAFLO turbines from 1991 to 1994.
The power station has an output of 34 KW and mean annual production of 205m kWh. Within the scope of the "Culture in the Power Station on the Rhine" project, an historic Francis turbine dating back to 1916 was preserved, along with its inlets and outlets.
Axpo Hydro Energy has been commissioned to manage it since 2001.
