KW Eglisau-Glattfelden AG
Low-pressure run-of-river power station on the Rhine
The Eglisau cross-border power station has an output of 32.5 MW and exploits the slope of the Rhine along a distance of 15.7 km. The plant was built by Axpo AG, formerly NOK, between 1915 and 1921 and is listed as a fine example of the industrial architecture of that time. The concession area is also a popular destination for walkers and for relaxing by.
Kraftwerk Eglisau-Glattfelden AG is owned fully by Axpo AG. The weir was refurbished in a recent project completed in 2005, and a further renewal project is in preparation with a view towards replacing the power station. Axpo Hydro Energy is responsible for the managerial and operational running of the plant.
