Axpo Hydro Surselva AG

Axpo AG, formerly NOK, acquired 100% of the shares in Axpo Hydro Surselva AG from EMS-Chemie Holding AG on 1 January 2003. The company, which is headquartered in Domat/Ems, has three power stations - Pintrun, Tavanasa-Obersaxen and Russein – in the Anterior Rhine Valley. The facilities which were built in the 1940s to supply power to Holzverzuckerungs AG in Domat/Ems draw water from a number of catchments totaling 164 km2 and have a mean annual production of approx. 101.5 GWh. Axpo Hydro Surselva AG source energy from Kraftwerke Frisal AG and Kraftwerke Reichenau AG and distributes to industry and to local power-distribution companies in the Anterior Rhine Valley. Axpo Hydro Surselva AG has an 80.6% stake in Kraftwerke Frisal AG.

Axpo Hydro Surselva AG is also a used by Axpo Hydro Energy as a competence center for the operational and managerial running of hydro power stations.

Axpo Hydro Surselva AG is responsible for the operational running of Kraftwerke Vorderrhein AG (KVR) and of Kraftwerke Ilanz AG (KWI), as well as with the managerial and operational running of Kraftwerke Reichenau (KWR) and Kraftwerke Frisal (KWF).

Profit falls significantly– Axpo restructures to improve performance and is planning investments of more than CHF 20 billion to ensure security of supply

Axpo Group profits are down substantially for the 2010/11 financial year (as per 30.9.2011). Operating profit (EBIT) of CHF 139 million and consolidated net profit of CHF 45 million were significantly below the figures for the previous year of CHF 538 million and CHF 409 million respectively.
