Kraftwerke Vorderrhein AG
Storage power station in the Bündner Oberland region of Graubünden
Disentis/Mustér (GR)-based Kraftwerke Vorderrhein (Anterior Rhine Power Stations, KVR), which were built from 1962 to 1968, is a plant which is co-owned by the Graubünden cantonal authority, the concession authorities and Axpo AG.
The 80m franc share capital is divided as follows: 81.5% Axpo AG, 10% Graubünden cantonal authority and 8.5% concession authorities.
The KVR power stations are used to produce peak-load energy, adapted to meet consumption requirements, thanks to their rapid availability and their large output capacity (331 MW). The two power stations, Sedrun and Tavanasa, use the water inflow from a catchment of around 316 km2 in the Anterior Rhine and its tributaries through to Tavanasa. It produces a mean of 790m kWh every year.
Hydro Surselva AG sees to the operational running of the installations. The managerial mandate is held by Axpo Hydro Energy.
