Transmission Network
The transmission network is generally operated at 380 or 220 kV and serves three main tasks:
- It is the backbone of the electricity supply nationwide
- Transmission of electricity over greater distances
- Energy exchange with neighboring cross-border regions
Axpo AG owns almost 25% of the transmission network in Switzerland, which means that it possesses the following (construction status as at 30 September 2009):
- 1998 km of dedicated lines
- rights to third-party lines
Furthermore, two dedicated and five party substations serve as nodal points in the transmission network.
