Axpo Tegra AG
Switzerland’s biggest biomass power plant operator
Through the combustion of biomass, Axpo Tegra AG uses CO₂-neutral and sustainable energy sources to generate electricity and heat. Axpo AG (formerly NOK) recognised the potential of utilising this renewable energy source at an early stage, and in 2007 obtained a 20 percent stake in Axpo Tegra AG. In 2008, Axpo Tegra AG won the Watt d'Or prize, awarded annually by the Federal Office for Energy (BFE), in the categories ‘Renewable Energy’ and ‘Energy Technologies’. The company produces around 125 000 megawatt hours (MWh) of CO₂-neutral electricity and 220 000 MWh of thermal energy annually. In 2009, Axpo AG became the majority shareholder in the Tegra Group, which at that time included the following companies: Axpo Tegra AG (biomass power plants concern), Axpo Biomag AG (sourcing and processing of biomass) and Axpo Tegra Holz + Energie AG (engineering, project development and construction of biomass power plants).
Axpo AG is an 86 percent stakeholder in Axpo Tegra Holding AG. Axpo Tegra AG is a 100 percent-owned subsidiary of Axpo Tegra Holding AG.
Axpo HE Holding AG is a 100 percent-owned subsidiary of Axpo AG. Axpo Tegra AG is a 100 percent-owned subsidiary of Tegra Holding AG.
